Is the recoil of a .44 magnum a lot more compared to a colt .45?

A guy at this firing range let me shoot his colt .45. i was able to handle the recoil pretty well but a buddy of mine has a .44 mgnum single action revolver that he said i could shoot if i wanted to. i havegood shooting formed and iam trained but is it hard to handle?
